The next trade was completed today!

The girls making the trade with Norman

Today the stakes got raised:

The girls traded the Thrifty's Smile card for 2 roundtrip flights from

Victoria to Tofino, with Island Express Air.

The flights were purchased through Groupon and the airline has confirmed that they are transferable. What do you have to offer as a trade? Thanks Norman for this most incredible opportunity and for supporting these students

an Exciting Offer has been made!

Norman Thomas stated:
"I have a pair of Island Express air tickets, Victoria to Tofino, round trip, $400.00 value, good until April 13, 2014. Would that work for you??"

The girls have agreed to make the trade in person Saturday January 11th.

We have checked that these tickets are transferable,
as they have been purchased via Groupon.

The Plan

Meet our daughters and band students; Lyndsay, Raven, Summer and Amanda.
Being in a school band is an excellent way to gain valuable musical skills within a group.
It also provides the opportunity to travel, as schools organize band trips.
Trips can be quite expensive for families, so we have created
an original way to raise funds.

Are you familiar with the red paperclip?

Kyle Mac Donald took the game "Bigger and Better" to a new level.
He started trading a red paperclip, and ended up with a house.
You can read his story here:

Our idea is to have the girls play the game over the Christmas holidays,
trading up until they have something significant to auction off.
Each girl needs to raise over 600$ to finance their band trips.

Here are the rules:

Bigger and Better is a team building activity in which teams compete by trading ordinary objects. The winner is the team that ends up with the biggest and best items when the time expires. Each team starts with a small object, and their job is to keep trading and upgrading their team’s object to obtain the largest and most valuable item possible. They may not offer anything other than the item they have, are not obligated to accept a proffered trade and they must work together as a group.
